DojoInsights initiative
High Level Goals
- Open access to Dojo knowledge and network so that undergrads, no matter where they’re located or what experience they have, can benefit
- Create workbooks, playbooks, other resources that walk undergrads through different facets of biotech, step-by-step
- Foster lasting in-person and/or virtual relationships among undergrads of similar interests in biotech through sustainable programming
- Publish an Insights report that enables Dojo to be seen as the primary thought leader on undergraduate involvement in biotech
Current State of Community
- In October 2023, established an online Slack with 35 members consisting of alumni and current students in BioDojo, DojoHouse, DojoGrants, and DojoExplore cohorts.
- We have a full list of 75 alumni here who we contacted to join—roughly 2/3rd didn’t join the Slack.
- We hosted a virtual event on September 28th to kick off our new community (see “Past Events Archive”) with 10 attendees.
- An inactive Discord with 472 members—there is an open invite link to join.
- Old (from Jan 2023) marketing list used by the past Community team
Guiding Questions for Event Planning
- When are events of the same type more popular than others?
- Journal Clubs on Sundays vs Fridays?
- Speed “friending” on Fridays vs Saturdays?
- What kind of events do people engage with?
- Where are the most people coming from (geographically) → ie. what time zones should we most accommodate for?
- What kinds of people are showing up to each event type?
- Who are we leaving out?
- Who are we over-stimulating?
